After serving as the Chef d'État-Major des Armées for the French Military, Pierre Ducard is riding a wave of momentum towards the French presidency. With the election a few weeks away, the president in waiting heads to the UK on a publicity mission with only one cloud hanging over his head.

Twelve years ago, two French diplomats where kidnapped in Peru and then executed in the Amazon Rainforest. Olivier Chavet, the son of one of the deceased, is adamant that not only did Ducard not do enough to save them, but that he ordered their deaths himself. When Chavet goes live on a UK news channel in response to Ducard's visit, he puts himself in the firing line.

He also draws the attention of the only survivor from that mission: Sam Pope.

With the deaths of his three comrades still weighing on his conscience, Sam faces a race against time and the full might of Ducard's private security to finally discover the truth of what truly happened, and why he and his team were sent to die.
